The Deal that Got Away

by Shawn Driscoll on April 25, 2009

When an opportunity slips through your fingers you may be tempted to think it got away from you. You may be bummed that you let it get away, or that wonder ‘what if…’

But what if that wasn’t the case at all?

  • What if the deal that got away was actually the deal that got your attention?
  • What if this opportunity was simply God’s or the Universe’s way of asking you:  is this really what you want?  And if so, are you ready?
  • What if the missed opportunity was simply the nudge you needed to expand your vision, get your ducks in a row or strengthen your foundation so you’d be ready for the just right opportunity that was already on its way?

I’ve had this happen a number of times.

And it happened again yesterday.

I’ve been visioning relocating my mom local to me for the last 3 years.  And while we’ve put some energy into making it happen, things haven’t come together and no solution seemed apparent.  Until yesterday.

An opportunity surfaced that was too good to pass up.  But it got away because we hesitated.

What I know for sure (because this has happened to me before) is that the PERFECT opportunity to move her is just about to come to us.  And we’ll be ready because I’m not wasting time on regret.  Instead, I’m in action getting ready for what’s coming.

I had an important talk with my mom.

I’m scheduling an appointment with a lawyer to handle all the ins and outs of Medicare law and property issues.

I’ve got some ‘legwork’ to do to ensure a smooth transition for her.

I’m not regretting that the great condo got away from us.  I see that it was the nudge we needed to get into action so that when the right place comes to us very soon, there’s no hesitation.

I’ll keep you posted!
